Fiber Sensing
-
DAS - Distributed Acoustic Sensing system overview
- Low capital and operational costs, using just standard telecommunications grade fibre cables
- Single system performance equivalent to tens of thousands of individual sensors
- Reliable and proven non-stop surveillance system for real-time identifying and alerting
- Tuneable to minimise “false positive” rates across any terrain
- Fully scalable for installations of any length
- Can be integrated with existing systems, including CCTV
- A single DAS unit can interrogate a fibre of 50 kilometres in length, detecting vehicles at up to 50 metres on each side of the fibre. Events are detected to an accuracy of 1 metre.
- Standard single-mode optical fiber.
- Measurements all along a 50 km fiber = 50,000 sensors.
- Backscattered light provides measurement point every 1m.
